Eritara’s sister and global advocate, Nickt has worked tirelessly to bring Eritara’s story to the international stage. From being featured on the BBC to her efforts with Human Rights at Sea during their internal investigation, Nicky has become a champion for Eritara’s cause.
Human Rights at Sea’s Founder (2013-2023) and now Human Rights at Sea International’s Executive Director, David has worked for four years with the family, state authorities, international lawyers, and a team of international consultants to conduct an investigative review of Eritara’s case and promote the case through international advocacy. Relying on his previous role as an English Barrister (Counsel), David hopes that ratification of soft-law developments like the Geneva Declaration for Human Rights at Sea, as well as dedicated management measures through Regional Fisheries Management Organisations will better protect observers in the future.
Retired Mariner Captain Savenaca Kadavi supports the Human Dignity Group (Fiji based nonprofit organisation) in advocating for local and foreign national fishers and observers in Fiji to shed light on their stories and call on the local government to enact change.
